Deputy Chairman disqualifies 3 members of CADC

Deputy Chairman, CADC, Dg. Sundor Muni Chakma has disqualified Dg. Hiranand Tongchangya, Dg. Sanjeev Chakma and Dg. Mohan Chakma from the Membership of Chakma Autonomous District Council under Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 17 of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Constitution and Conduct of Business, etc.) Rule, 2002 with immediate effect.

However, as provided under sub-clause (j) of Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 12 of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Constitution and Conduct of Business, etc.) Rules, 2002 and as amended, this disqualification notification shall not take effect until three months have elapsed from the date of their conviction, or if within that period an appeal or application for revision is preferred from the conviction or the sentence, and an interim stay against such conviction or suspension of such sentence has been obtained by such person from a competent appellate or divisional court, as the case may be.

Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, MLA and CEM, CADC inspects progress of Water Treatment Plant under construction at Sadarasuk

Kamalanagar, 19 December 2023: Member of Legislative Assembly, 36-Tuichawng Assembly Constituency, Mizoram, and Chief Executive Member, CADC, Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, led a team of Executive Committee Members, MDCs and officials from PHE Department to the site of the Water Treatment Plant being constructed under the Chawngte Rural Drinking Water Supply Scheme at Sadarasuk on Monday. The purpose of the visit was to assess the current status of the project, which is expected to significantly improve the water supply in the Chawngte area. He was also accompanied by Dg. Nirupam Chakma, MDC and a prominent leader representing the opposition benches in the council.

During the inspection, the team meticulously examined various components of the water treatment plant, including the infiltration gallery, pump house, filter and chemical house, and reservoir. Dg. A. Bindulal Chakma, Junior Engineer from the PHE Chawngte Section, provided detailed technical explanations of the infrastructure and their respective functions. Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma expressed his satisfaction with the progress made on the project.

The Chawngte Rural Drinking Water Supply Scheme is a significant initiative undertaken by the CADC authority under the leadership of Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma and implemented by Public Health Engineering Department, Government of Mizoram with fund provision from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). The project, initiated in January 2021 at a cost of Rs. 9 Crore, is on track for completion in March 2024. Once operational, the facility is expected to significantly alleviate the long-standing water crisis faced by residents of Kamalanagar town, including the Chawngte area. It will have the capacity to supply water to the residents for a minimum of 12 hours a day. The project also includes providing free water connections to the uncovered areas of Kamalanagar and Chawngte.

Earlier on the day, CEM Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma and his team visited the designated site for an education and community development project at Kamalanagar-VI. The land, donated by Dg. Birendra Bijoy Chakma of Kamalanagar-I, had been chosen for the establishment of a Middle School, an Anganwadi Center, and a Village Council House. Earth cutting and leveling of the site has already been completed.

Kali Kumar Tongchangya resigns as Chairman of CADC

Kamalanagar, 15 December 2023: Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya, the Chairman of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC), tendered his resignation today, the 15th of December, 2023.

In his resignation letter addressed to the Governor of Mizoram, Dg. Kali Kumar Tongchangya stated that he resigned from the office of the Chairman of the 11th Chakma Autonomous District Council in accordance with Sub-Rule (b) of Rule 16 of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (Constitution, Conduct of Business, etc.) Rules, 2002.

Winter Session of CADC prorogued in single sitting

Kamalanagar, December 15, 2023: The Winter Session of 2023 of the 11th Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) concluded today, chaired by Dg. Sundor Muni Chakma, Deputy Chairman of CADC. The session commenced with the announcement of the resignation of the incumbent Chairman of CADC Dg. Kali Kumar from his office earlier today.

In a solemn tribute, the House observed an obituary reference for former Councilor of CADC, late Dg. Buddha Lila Chakma, who passed away on October 10, 2023 due to a hemorrhagic stroke at IBS Hospital in Delhi. The Chief Executive Member and House Leader Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma delivered a heartfelt eulogy and acknowledged the various contributions of the departed leader to the community in different capacities. The House paid respects to the deceased leader through a poignant one-minute silent prayer.

The session transacted a total of 4 starred questions, 4 unstarred questions, and 3 supplementary questions. With this, the Winter Session of 2023 of the 11th CADC has been officially prorogued on the same day.

MLA Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma accorded grand reception in Kamalanagar

𝐊𝐚𝐦𝐚π₯𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐫, πƒπžπœπžπ¦π›πžπ« πŸπŸ’, πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ‘: The newly elected Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), from 36-Tuichawng Assembly Constituency and Chief Executive Member, CADC, Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma today received a grand reception at Kamalanagar upon his return from the swearing-in ceremony as an MLA of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. This is his first visit to the constituency after being elected in the General Election to the 9th Mizoram Legislative Assembly, 2023.

The MLA, who arrived in the afternoon was greeted with enthusiasm by Members of the District Council and officials near the CADC Secretariat, Kamalanagar. Representatives of various departments of CADC congratulated him on his electoral victory.

Logo Designing for Tribal Museum at CADC.

The Executive Committee of Chakma Autonomous District Council feels it a great privilege to invite interested individuals to take part in designing of a “LOGO/ICON” exclusively to be used for the Tribal Museum to be constructed soon at Kamalanagar under the Museum Grant Scheme from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

The Logo should incorporate elements and visual that symbolizes the Art & Culture of the Chakma Community. The logo complete in all aspects should be submitted both in print and soft format to the undersigned within 30 days from the date of issue of this circular.

However, the Executive Committee of CADC reserved the rights for the selection of the most appropriate logo/icon to be used for the symbol of the Museum.

Notification of Common Examination 2023-24

CADC Executive Committee takes key resolutions on solar streetlights, cultural museum and infrastructural development

Kamalanagar, 24 November 2023: The Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) convened a crucial Executive Committee Meeting today, presided over by Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, Chief Executive Member of CADC. The meeting addressed a range of significant agenda items, resulting in unanimous resolutions.

One of the key discussions centered around a proposal for the submission of an application to the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) for funding of Rs. 100.00 lakhs under the CSR fund. These funds are earmarked for the installation of solar street lights in Kamalanagar town. The proposal received unanimous approval, and the Executive Secretary, CADC, has been directed to take necessary actions following HUDCO’s prescribed application format.

The Executive Committee also deliberated on selecting a site for the establishment of the Tribal Museum at Sadarasora in Kamalanagar-II. With an approved project cost of Rs. 500.00 lakhs under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the Sr RSO, CADC, will initiate necessary action for geo-tagging the approved site. The committee has decided to invite interested individuals to design and submit the Museum icon and symbol, reflecting Chakma art and culture, to the Executive Secretary, CADC, within one month.

In a move to enhance local infrastructure, the Executive Committee approved a proposal to secure a loan from HUDCO for the development of road infrastructure within Kamalanagar town, covered under the RMCAs. The approved loan amount is Rs. 500.00 lakhs. The Executive Secretary, CADC, has been tasked with initiating the necessary actions for the submission of the application to obtain government guarantees and the sanctioning of funds from the concerned authorities.

Moreover, the committee greenlit a proposal for the review of processing fees on land leases granted to educational institutions/schools, village courts, playgrounds, safety/supply reserves, markets, and offices of various departments under CADC. The processing fees rate will be revised from Rs. 1000 to Rs. 500. The Land Revenue and Settlement (LRS) department, CADC, has been advised to take necessary action to issue notifications to all concerned to apply the land leases and complete the process within three months.
