Re-assessment Of Lands Affected By IBBF Successfully Completed

Kamalanagar, 8 March 2017: Reassessment of lands affected by Indo-Bangla Border Fencing for the portion covering four villages of Chhotapansury, Gulsingbapsora, Nagdarasora and Gerakuluksora was completed successfully with the co-operations of the villagers. The assessment process was all peaceful and no incidents of protest was reported.

The assessment team included Pu Dr. Andrew Lalremruata, Sub-Deputy Commissioner and Nodal Officer, IBBF, Lawngtlai District, Pu. K. Zorammuana, SDO(Civil), Chawngte, Dg. Pronit Bikash Chakma, Nodal Officer, IBBF, CADC Area, Dg. Prabin Chakma, Revenue Officer, Dg. Manabendra, Surveyor and Dg. Anulal Tongchangya, Surveyor.

This was the third assessment. An attempt prior to this was made but met with resistance from some villagers and assessment process had to be aborted. The Deputy Commissioner, Lawngtlai district taking the matter seriously in a meeting held in his office on 23/2/2017 ordered for reassessment under security of police. Dg. Devraj Chakma, OC-II, Chawngte Police Station, the OC, Borapansury Police Station and seven MAP personnel accompanied the assessment team.

A total of some 17 Km stretch of land was assessed. All the land owners were told to stand on their respective plot of land for claim during the process of assessment.
