NLUP Assistance under 3rd & 4th Phase Distributed

Kamalanagar, September 12: Assistances under 3rd and 4th phase of NLUP were distributed today at Kamalanagar to as many as 1100 families of Tuichawng MLA constituency. Earlier, in the month of August in a similar programme as many as 933 families received NLUP assistance under the 2nd phase. The distribution of the 3rd phase was an assurance given then. The 1st phase has covered as many as 2694 families under the Programme.

The programme of NLUP has been conceived by the current Congress led Government of Mizoram targeting the economically downtrodden section of the society to fight and eradicate poverty and give the people sustainable source of livelihood. The programme shall cover as many as 1.35 lakh families which shall involve about Rs.2,800.00 Crores.

Todayโ€™s programme was graced by Dangu Nirupam Chakma, Honโ€™ble local MLA as its Chief Guest and Dangu Dr. Buddha Dhan Chakma, Honโ€™ble CEM, CADC as Guest of Honour.

โ€œThe 4th phase which was actually supposed to be given later, was made possible today thanks to the Central Government and the State Governmentโ€, said Dangu Dr. B.D., Honโ€™ble CEM, CADC while speaking on the occasion. He expressed his happiness over the progress of works especiallyunder the Agri sector which he said are evident when a tour is taken around CADC.

The Honโ€™ble MLA while speaking on the occasion reminded the people that the Programme of NLUP was a part of the election manifesto of the Congress Party in their last Assembly Election and because of which he said the people have given them a mandate of 32 against 8 out of 40 assembly seats. He said, accordingly they have kept their electoral commitment and shall continue to work to the faith of the people of Mizoram. He further said the Congress Party is yet again ready with a new manifesto for the ensuing Assembly Election which is due by the end of this year and believes the people shall happily repose their faith in it.

While taking advantage of the occasion he said that land acquisition process, for the construction of the arterial road connecting Kamalanagar with Lunglei into double lane highway, has already started and contractors for the work which is to be funded by Wolrd Bank shall be selected by the month of January 2014. Blacktopping of the Chawngte-Diltlang road shall start by this year, he said. Rs.2.50 Crore has been sanctioned under MSDP for the establishment of an ITI Training Centre at Kamalanagar which shall empower the youth with vocational skill, he said. He shared with the audience the good news that Kamalanagar College shall soon be provincialized from Deficit status, which he said, has been approved by the Cabinet.
