<pKamalanagar, March 9:The first ever mega structure within CADC, the CADC Cultural hall-cum-museum, constructed at Kamalanagar at an estimated cost of Rs.6.07 Crore was inaugurated today by the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Pu Lal Thanhawla in presence of Dangu Nihar Kanti Chakma, Hon’ble Minister, Dangu Kali Kumar Tongchangya, Hon’ble CEM and Dangu Nirupam Chakma, Hon’ble MLA.

The work which started on 20th Sept. 2010 got completed in two years and five months. Fund provision for the work has been made out of CADC Annual Plan Fund on continued basis. The Structure was designed with three floors with the basement for offices, the ground floor to house the Museum and a research section of the Art & Culture Department and the first floor for the Cultural Hall. The Cultural Hall, the central attraction of the structure was designed with a seating capacity to accommodate 536 audiences. The floor is provided with a large beautiful dais measuring 15 Sq. M where a troupe of 50 artists can perform easily. Other essentials like backstage, green room, toilets for man and woman are also provided to avoid mid-stage inconveniences. Apart from these facilities, the floor is also provided with a spacious VIP lounge, auditorium lobby, separate entrances and exits for VIPs and the general audiences. The structure shall be one of the biggest in the State.

The project has been one of the dearest, which was tenaciously pursued by the current Executive Committee, CADC. So far great difficulties have been faced here while hosting programmes with no proper structure dedicated for the purpose. It has been the practice to hold programmes in Government schools at the cost of studies of school children.

The inauguration programme was started off with a devotional cultural item praising the lord Buddha. The hon’ble Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion appreciated the current Government of CADC about the kind of works they have been producing. In a remarkable gesture of goodwill and communal harmony and religious tolerance the Hon’ble Chief Minister presented the Chief Executive Member, CADC with two idols of the Lord Buddha.
