Kamalanagar, August 16, 2023: The first sitting of the 11^th Chakma Autonomous District Council’s Monsoon Session took place today, marked by the active participation of 18 council members. During the question hour of today’s session, a total of seven unstarred questions and two starred questions were addressed. Dg. Nirupam Chakma, MDC, CADC, raised five unstarred questions, while Dg. Doymoy Daveng Chakma, MDC, CADC, posed two unstarred and two starred questions.

Three important Amendment Bills were introduced by the Chief Executive Member and leader of the house. The Bills presented were: (1). The Chakma Autonomous District Council (Salaries and Allowances of Chief Executive Member and Executive Members) (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023. (2.) The Chakma Autonomous District Council (Salaries and Allowances of Chairman and Deputy Chairman) (Second Amendment Bill), 2023 and (3.) The Chakma Autonomous District Council (Salaries, Allowances and Pension of Members) (Third Amendment Bill), 2023.

The Chief Executive Member explained the rationale behind these proposed amendments, highlighting their necessity and benefits and sought the valuable opinions of the members and their support for the proposed Bills. All the three amendment bills were passed unanimously through a voice vote.

With the successful transaction of the day’s list of business, the session was adjourned. The upcoming sitting is scheduled for August 17, 2023.
