70th India’s Republic Day Celebrated at Kamalanagar, CADC

Kamalanagar, 26 January 2019: The 70th day of India’s Republic was celebrated today at Kamalanagar, headquarters of Chakma Autonomous District Council amidst huge enthusiasts coming to witness the programme from all over Kamalanagar town.

Pu S. Kaptluanga, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Chawngte and Chief Guest of the programme, organised at Kamalanagar play ground, unfurled the National Flag.

Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma, CEM, CADC, his colleague MDCs, Officials of CADC and State government, heads of institution in Kamalanagar besides other dignitaries attended the programme.

March past was presented by parade contingents represented by CRPF jawans, Duloram Public School, New Angle Public School, Udaigiri Higher Secondary school, Govt’ Kamalanagar CMS, Government Kamalanagar high school, Radhamon high school, Govt’ Comph. Middle school, Govt’ public school, RCM CMS, Vijoygiri Academy.
Art & Culture department, CADC and Duloram Public Higher Secondary school presented cultural items.

The Chief Guest in his public address regreted about how governance in CADC suffered in the last nine months due to political instability and expressed hope that political stability prevails with the formation of the new Executive Committee led by Dg. Rasik Mohan Chakma. He appreciated the performance of the CADC PWD in maintenace and improvement of internal town roads during the last nine months despite unfavourable time.

He introduced about the aim and objectives of the Socio Economic Development Programme of the Government.

Underlining lack of road connectivity in CADC as the main hurdle to development he informed the gathering that proposal for construction of double lane highway connecting Tlabung-Borapansury-Ugudasury-south parva and double lane highway connecting Chawngte-Longpuighat-Parva-Zochawchhuah have been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Addressing the gathering he pledged for governance, free of corruption and assured proper utilization of fund. He also announced implementation of 7th pay in CADC from February with effect from September 2018 and informed that proposed additional fund to the tune of 12.13 crore to meet 7th Pay have been reatained by the new government in the state.
