Independence Day celebrated at Kamalanagar

Kamalanagar, August 15, 2018: The 72nd Independence Day of India was celebrated at Kamalanagar in presence of a huge turnout of onlookers. Pu T.T. Zothangsanga, MLA, Mizoram who came down from Aizawl a day earlier, graced the ceremonial function held at the Kamalanagar playground as chief guest and did the honour of unfurling the National Flag to the chorus of the National Anthem performed by the Chakma Mahila Samiti.

March past by parade contingents of different schools of Kamalanagar and Chawngte areas were performed. A total of 15 schools participated in the march past besides the 225-CRPF battalion. The chief guest conducted the ceremonial inspection of the parade contingents. Duloram Public Higher Secondary school was adjudged the first in the march past presentation followed by New Angel School. The third position was jointly bagged by Kamalanagar Govt. High School and Vijoygiri Academy.

The Chief Guest speaking on the occasion highlighted the achievements of the current Congress-ruled government. He cited how it has resolved the lingering HPCD issue, how NLUP has helped lift the economic status of the people, how the success story of NLUP inspired the NEDP and how food security act has benefitted the people.

Fruits and sweets were distributed to the patients at Community Health Centre, Chawngte on the day by the SDO(C), Chawngte Pu S. Kaptluanga. The celebration concluded with the final Independence Day football match played between Chawngte P Sporting Club and Bajeisora Sporting Club. Chawngte P won the match 5-1.

Earlier, in the early morning Dg. Shanti Jiban Chakma, CEM, CADC hoisted the National Flag in the premises of CADC Secretariat before a mass gathering of the CADC employees. While remembering the sacrifices of the freedom fighters of India in his speech he urged the people of CADC especially the employees to give their best for a vibrant CADC.
